January 07 - Charts, Recording Session and Magazines

The Memphis Metropolitan Hotel & Lodging association released the January '10 edition of the Key magazine. Also, the latest edition of the Memphis Flyer is packed with Elvis! George Klein & Elvis grace the front cover and the cover story is about George Klein's book, "Elvis My Best Man" and more.

In the US Elvis did fail to make the final Top 10 Poll in Madison Square Garden "Best Concert" vote. Elvis Presley's 1972 concerts ended at #11 with 1,10% of the votes.The Top 3 MSG shows were: 1. Michael Jackson 1988 29.1% 2. Michael Jackson 2001 28.6% 3. Led Zeppelin 1973, 12.3%


The CD "Boy From Tupelo" was re-issued by Starbucks has debuted on the Billboard 200 at #122. On the catalogue chart the CD is listed at #10. In the U.K. TV advertising for the 3 CD set "Elvis 75" started, midweek charts predict a Top 20 placing.


Elvis' former pianist Glenn Hardin did a recording session with the Dutch performer Bouke in Nashville. They recorded three songs - "Unchained Melody", "Lead Me, Guide Me" and "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" at the piano which will be released on a special fan club CD by the Belgian/ Dutch ElvisMatters fan club later this year.

The January / February edition of the Elmore magazine features Elvis Presley on the cover and an article on Elvis' country roots inside. The King's Country Roots: Elvis was a hip-swinging boy on the Ed Sullivan Show, a Hollywood charmer who got the girl, a leather-clad crooner and a bloated Las Vegas ham. The real Elvis was even more complex, and for his 75th birthday, we salute the country star.


In Germany the DVD "Private Elvis" was released on the Kinowelt label. 


Paramount Home Entertainment Germany re-issued their 2003 DVD edition of Elvis Presley's classic "Acapulco".
